Woodie Wilson (August 8, 1925 - September 13, 1994) was a NASCAR driver from Mobile, AL. In his ten-start Sprint Cup Series career, Wilson earned two top-ten finishes.
Wilson's debut came in 1949, when he competed in the first event at the famed Daytona Beach Road Course. Starting positions in the field of twenty-eight, but Wilson kept his car out of trouble (and out of the surf) to record a solid 17th place run.
Wilson did not return to the sport for a number of years, competing at LeHi. Starting 22nd in the field of twenty-nine, Wilson didn't last long in the race. He only completed eighteen laps before overheating woes left him 26th.
Wilson's next five races came after another hiatus ending in 1961, with Wilson finishing a career-high 41st in the points. For the most part, Wilson ran very well. One DNF - a 34th place finish in the Southern 500 - would be his only flaw. Otherwise, he ran no worse than 18th the rest of the year, picking up some solid finishes at Daytona (18th), Charlotte (14th), and at Atlanta (15th and 9th). The ninth place run at Atlanta was Wilson's first career top-ten.
Wilson's final three races came in 1962, when he got his season kicked off at Daytona in the annual February Speedweeks events. He quickly advanced to the Daytona 500 via a career-best 7th place showing in the Qualifier event. But axle issues in the 500 left him 42nd, as more axle issues left him 41st at Atlanta in his final career race.
