
Whelen Engineering Company, Inc is an American corporation based out of Chester, Connecticut that designs, develops, and markets audio and visual signaling devices primarily for law enforcement, security, and military clients.
Non-Sponsorship Involvement with NASCAR[]
The Whelen Company is divided into fours divisions and has a subsidiary called Whelen Motorsports. Whelen Motorsports is partnered with NASCAR and is the "Officially Licensed Warning Lights of NASCAR." It also sponsors and promotes the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour.
As part of its Warning Light provision with NASCAR, Whelen manufactures the pit road lights, flashing either red or green to indicate whether the pit road is open or closed.

Whelen has taken a large interest in helping many Northeast drivers get sponsorship and support. Thus, the company has sponsored on many levels of the sport, most notably sponsoring the Marsh Motorsports team between 2000 and 2006.

Special Paint Schemes[]
Whelen ran a number of special paint schemes in 2005 to showcase their involvement with emergency agencies. The effort was called "Honoring Hometown Heroes" and it featured the Whelen car painted exactly like the honored group. At Richmond in May, the team ran a #31 car painted like a police car. Then in Charlotte in October, the team featured a car mocked up like a fire engine.
