Sprint Nextel Corporation (or simply Sprint) is the third largest telecommunications company. In 2006 Sprint acquired Nextel for $35 Billion, however Sprint didn't take over as sponsor of the Cup Series until 2008. In 2017, Monster Energy replaced Sprint as title sponsor of the NASCAR Cup Series.
