Richard Petty Motorsports was an American stock car racing team owned by former NASCAR driver and 7-time champ, Richard Petty.

On December 1 2021, Maurice Gallagher (Owner of GMS Racing) bought majoirty share of RPM. On December 7, 2021 It was announced the team would close and all assets of RPM would move over to GMS Racing which would be rebranded Petty GMS Motorsports.

RPM was formed in 2009 from a merger between Petty Enterprises and Gillett Evernham Motorsports.

On December 1, 2021, Maurice Gallagher and his team (GMS Racing) bought out Andrew M. Murstein's (Medallion Finacial Co.) majority share of RPM, Petty will retain a small share of the team and RPM will remain operational and still continue to field the #43 Chevy with driver Erik Jones. [1] [2]
