Portland Speedway was a combination .520 and .25 mile oval track facility in Portland, OR, operating from 1924-2001. Originally a river-bottom clay 5/8-mile oval from 1924 through 1945, the track was paved with asphalt in 1946, shortened slightly, and the inner quarter-mile oval was constructed. Portland Speedway remained a paved oval facility through July, 2000, when it was once again converted to clay for the final 1 1/2 years of its life. Closed permanently in March of 2002, the grandstands and outbuildings have since been razed and the track is barely recognizable as such to all but those who hold her in fond memories.
