Stock Car Racing Wiki

Permatex is an American company founded in 1909 that primarily sells automotive products. It is also one of the first major sponsors in NASCAR history.

In 1936, Permatex sponsored future NASCAR founder Bill France Sr. and Milt Marion in the very first stock car race at the Daytona Beach Road Course, which was sanctioned by AAA. Bill finished 5th and Milt won the race.

In 1966, Permatex began sponsoring the Modified (later became a Late Model Sportsman) race at Daytona International Speedway, becoming only the 2nd race in NASCAR history to be named a corporate sponsor. This sponsorship lasted until 1977.

From 1986 to 1992, Permatex was the title sponsor of the ARCA series.

In 1987, Permatex began sponsoring Venturini Motorports' all-female pit crew. That same year, the team won the ARCA championship with team owner Bill Venturini. However, Permatex wouldn't primarily sponsor Venturini's team until 1996 with Bill's son, Billy Venturini. After 2003, Permatex left the team.

In 2019, Permatex came back to the NASCAR Cup Series for the first time in 35 years, sponsoring StarCom Racing's #00 Chevrolet. This partnership lasted until StarCom Racing shut down following the 2021 season. In the 2020 Cook Out Southern 500, Quin Houff's car honored Milt's Daytona Beach victory in 1936.
