NASCAR Thunder 2003, is the fifth installment in the EA Sports NASCAR Racing video game series. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. is featured on the cover for the first time in his career.

Gameplay[]

NASCAR Thunder 2003 features many new gameplay elements that previous games did not feature. Quick Race has been improved once again to give a more accurate feel to what drivers are like on the track in real life. Career Mode however, was not improved much from NASCAR Thunder 2002 and still allows the player to race as their custom driver and manage a full race team and week. Season Mode also returns and allows players to race as either a custom driver or full time NASCAR Winston Cup Series driver such as Jeff Gordon or Jimmie Johnson. Included for the first time ever are Lightning Challenges. This mode allows players to relive NASCAR history from the 2002 season by challenging them to either make or maintain history. The settings are still fully customization to give the player an accurate experience depending on skill level.

Drivers[]

Though Fantasy Drivers are present, there are forty three fully licensed NASCAR Winston Cup Series drivers included. By completing certain tasks, players can unlock special paint schemes for drivers or even new drivers to use in-game. Drivers available for unlock include Busch series drivers such as Greg Biffle or Stanton Barrett. All the drivers in NASCAR Thunder 2003 are Richard Petty, Shawna Robinson, Ricky Rudd, Elliott Sadler, Ken Schrader, Mike Skinner, Jimmy Spencer, Tony Stewart, Rusty Wallace, Bobby Allison, John Andretti, Casey Atwood, Johnny Benson, Greg Biffle, Todd Bodine, Jeff Burton, Ward Burton, Dale Jarrett, Dale Earnhardt Jr, Kurt Busch, Ricky Craven, Dale Earnhardt Sr, Bill Elliott, Jeff Gordon, Robby Gordon, Jeff Green, Bobby Hamilton, Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Junior Johnson, Matt Kenseth, Mark Martin, Frank Kimmel, Alan Kulwicki, Bobby Labonte, Terry Labonte, Elmo Langley, Tiny Lund, Sterling Marlin, Jeremy Mayfield, Jerry Nadeau, Ryan Newman, Steve Park, Benny Parsons, and Kyle Petty.
