The Goodyear 400 is a NASCAR Cup Series race held annually at Darlington Raceway in Darlington, South Carolina.
While a 100-mile race was held in 1952, the spring Darlington race didn't become a mainstay on the Cup schedule until 1957, when the race became known as the Rebel 300. In 1966, the race became 400 miles long, and in 1973, the race became 500 miles long. In 1994, the race was shortened back to just 400 miles. However, after 2004, the spring Darlington race was taken off the schedule due to low attendance. In 2020, NASCAR announced that two 400-mile Darlington races would be held in May. Because of the success of the races, NASCAR announced that Goodyear would sponsor the spring Darlington race, and throwback weekend would officially be moved to May Darlington weekend.
