GM Goodwrench (also known as GM Goodwrench Service, and GM Goodwrench Service Plus) was an auto repair service for General Motors. It was replaced by GM Certified Service in 2011.
GM Goodwrench is best known for sponsoring Dale Earnhardt from 1988 through 2001 and Kevin Harvick from 2001 through 2006.
Cup Series History:[]
In 1988, GM Goodwrench moved up from sponsoring Dale Earnhardt in the NASCAR Xfinity Series to sponsoring his #3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet in the Cup Series. They remained as Earnhardt’s primary sponsor until his death in 2001. They continued to sponsor the team, however the car was renumbered to #29 and Kevin Harvick became the driver. They sponsored Harvick in the Cup Series until they left NASCAR at the conclusion of the 2006 season.
In all, GM Goodwrench sponsored Earnhardt for 4 of his championship seasons and 45 victories, and sponsored Harvick for his first 8 victories in the Cup Series.
Xfinity Series History:[]
GM Goodwrench sponsored Dale Earnhardt’s team in the Xfinity Series starting in 1986, with Earnhardt driving. They continued to sponsor the Dale Earnhardt, Inc. Xfinity team until 1996, with a variety of drivers driving the #8 (later renumbered to #3) cars. In addition to Earnhardt, Kenny Wallace, Michael Waltrip, David Bonnett, Neil Bonnett, Andy Petree, Jeff Green and Steve Park would each drive the GM Goodwrench sponsored cars for DEI in the Xfinity Series.
Truck Series History:[]
GM Goodwrench sponsored the Richard Childress Racing Truck Series team from 1995 through the 1999 season. Mike Skinner, Jay Sauter, and Mike Dillon each drove trucks with GM Goodwrench sponsorship for RCR. In 2004, GM Goodwrench returned to the series, sponsoring Kevin Harvick, Inc’s truck team, driven first by Matt Crafton, then Ron Hornaday, Jr. After the 2005 season, GM Goodwrench left the Truck Series.
