GEICO is a car insurance group. Their logo is the famous "GEICO Gecko." They have been involved in NASCAR since 2001.
NASCAR Cup Series Sponsorship[]
GEICO made it's first sponsorship in NASCAR in 2001. It sponsored Kenny Wallace's #27 Eel River Racing Pontiac at Richmond International Raceway. However, the car didn't qualify and GEICO did not sponsor the team after the race. GEICO did attempt to make the 2001 Brickyard 400 with Derrike Cope's #37 Pontiac. However, that car, too, failed to make the race.
GEICO returned with Cope's team in 2002, as Kevin Lepage ran a second Cope car, the #38 in the Winston Open and the Coca-Cola 600.
GEICO's last Sprint Cup sponsorship came in 2004, when they sponsored their Nationwide Series driver, Mike Wallace's endevour at Dover International Speedway. The #50 GEICO Dodge made the race.
GEICO then came back in 2009 with Max Papis driving for Germain Racing. In 2010 Casey Mears took over driving with GEICO and he drove with Germain Racing and GEICO until 2016. After Casey Mears, Ty Dillon took over the car from 2017 - 2020 until the team shut down.
Nationwide Series sponsorship[]
GEICO began sponsoring Busch Series cars in late 2001, when it sponsored the #46 GEICO Chevy of Ashton Lewis at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.
In 2002, GEICO upped its stature in the series, when it began sponsoring the #4 Biagi-Denbeste Racing Chevy of Mike Wallace. The deal was a ten-race deal in 2002, and slowly began to increase throughout the years. In 2004, Wallace won the race at Daytona. By 2005, with new driver Ryan Hemphill, GEICO sponsored the car in all the races.
On the side, since 2002, GEICO has sponsored some cars on the side. It sponsored the #87 NEMCO Motorsports Chevy in the 2002 spring Richmond. Tony Raines, in the #33 BACE Motorsports Chevy also ran a GEICO scheme in the fall race at North Carolina Speedway in late 2002. In 2005, GEICO sponsored Mike Wallace in the #61 Pontiac at Daytona. It marked the first time that GEICO sponsored two cars in one race.
In 2006, GEICO maintains primary sponsorship of the #4 Dodge, driven by Auggie Vidovich, II.
Craftsman Truck Series sponsorship[]
GEICO has one lone sponsorship deal in the Truck Series. In 2004, it sponsored Innovative Motorsports' #21 Toyota at Texas Motor Speedway. However, Parker left the race early.
