Exide Batteries is an American brand of lead-acid automotive and industrial batteries.
Cup Series History[]
In the Cup Series, Exide first sponsored Dave Marcis’s #71 Chevy at Phoenix in October 1993. The following season, they became the full season sponsor of Geoff Bodine’s #7 team. They sponsored Bodine for 2 seasons, before moving to the #99 Roush Racing Ford driven by Jeff Burton. They sponsored Burton from 1996 through 2000.
Truck Series History[]
In the Craftsman Truck Series, Exide sponsored Geoff Bodine’s #7 team in 1995, before moving to Roush’s truck team. They sponsored the #99 truck driven by Burton, Mark Martin and Ted Musgrave for 8 races in 1996, then sponsored the truck for the full season driven by Chuck Bown. In 1998, Joe Ruttman drove the #99 truck, and in 1999, Mike Bliss drove the truck. In 2000, Kurt Busch drove the #99. Exide would leave the Truck Series temporarily following the 2000 season.
In 2006, Exide returned to the series, sponsoring Johnny Benson for 5 races in the Bill Davis Racing #23 truck. They sponsored 4 races for Benson in 2007 and 5 races in 2008, In 2009, Exide moved to Mike Skinner and the #5 Randy Moss Motorsports Truck, sponsoring 13 races. In 2010, they returned to the team, sponsoring Skinner and Tayler Malsam in 8 races. In 2011, Exide moved to the #31 Truck, driven by James Buescher. They sponsored 1
4 races in 2011, then 4 races in 2012 and 2 races in 2013. They then moved to Brandon Jones and sponsored him for 1 race in 2013 and 2 races in 2014.
