Ernie Cline is a former NASCAR driver from Winston-Salem, NC. He competed in four Sprint Cup Series events during his career.
Cline's debut came in 1980, when he competed at Rockingham in his own equipment. Starting 35th in the field of thiry-six, Cline crashed fairly early in the event and finished a disappointing 30th.
Cline then moved his annual NASCAR start to the Bristol Motor Speedway in the 1981 season. Starting 29th in the field of thirty-one, Cline again fell out of the race early, this time due to brakes, and finished 30th.
Cline returned to Rockingham for his lone start of the 1982 season. It was another tough race for the driver, finishing 29th following a rear end issue. However, it was Cline's meager career-best finish.
Cline's final career race also came at Rockingham, this time in the 1983 season. It was a tough end to a tough career. Starting last (35th) in the field, Cline also finished 35th following an early crash.
