The eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series was a non-points series formed by NASCAR and iRacing during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
The series was originally meant to only be a one-time event at the virtual Homestead-Miami Speedway, but due to the success of the event, more races were added onto the schedule. A 10-race schedule was planned for the series in 2021, with FOX and NBC airing the first and second halves of the schedule respectively. However, due to interest in the series slowly waning, only the first 5 races of the season were held and the rest were cancelled. NASCAR did tease that the series may come back in the future for special events, although this has not yet happened.
The 2021 season finale was held at the Chicago Street Course, which was meant to be nothing more than a theoretical track. However, rumors began swirling that NASCAR was in talks of making the virtual track a reality as soon as March of 2021. In July of 2022, NASCAR announced that the Chicago Street Course would become a reality and would hold its first race on Independence Day weekend in 2023.
