Caraway Speedway is a .455 mile oval located in Asheboro, NC. The track has hosted numerous Busch Series events, but in modern days only plays host to the Whelen All-American Series and the Whelen Southern Modified Tour, a series which essentially was born at the facility.
The track was initially built in 1966 as a dirt track, though it quickly was transferred to pavement in 1972. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, a series of drivers that would go onto NASCAR glory made Late Model competition at the track a true sight. Champions during those years included Bobby Labonte, Mike Skinner, and three-time titlist Dennis Setzer. Justin Labonte and Travis Swaim, sons of famous drivers, have also won the Late Model championship at the facility.
