Bugs Stevens, born May 11, 1934 is a former NASCAR driver from Rehoboth, MA. He competed in three Sprint Cup Series events in his career, though he is best remembered for his stint in the Whelen Modified Tour.

Whelen Modified[]

Stevens won three NASCAR National modified championships between 1967-1969. Most Popular Driver award in 1971 and 1972. He ran strong in that series until the mid-80s.

Nextel Cup Series[]

All three of Stevens's Cup starts came in the 1970 sesaon. In his debut at the Lowe's Motor Speedway, Stevens started 17th. However, by the end of the night, Stevens had a solid 6th place effort, his only career top ten. Stevens had good cars at both Atlanta Motor Speedway and Darlington Speedway, but engine woes forced him to 40th and 38th in those two events and Stevens never raced on the circuit again.
