The Aero Wars was the PR battle between Ford and Chrysler that ultimately led competition on the NASCAR track. Trying to prove superiority, Chrysler introduced the Dodge Charger Daytona and the Plymouth SuperBird in 1969, the first (and until the scaled-down Car of Tomorrow only) winged cars in major NASCAR history.
