The 2014 Sprint Cup Series was the 66th season of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The season began with the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on February 23 and ended with the Ford EcoBoost 400 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 16.
Kevin Harvick won his first and only Sprint Cup Championship in his 14th full-time season, and his first season driving for Stewart-Haas Racing. He scored 5 wins on the season, including the final two races of the season to both lock himself into the Championship Round, and then win the Championship itself. He became the third driver to win both the Xfinity Series and Sprint Cup championships. It was Stewart-Haas Racing's second championship and crew chief Rodney Childers' first.
The season was notable for debuting a new Chase format, which expanded the field to 16 cars and split the 10 race chase into 4 rounds, concluding with a single race round where the highest finishing eligible driver would be crowned champion. It also saw the debut of a new knockout qualifying format, and included several driver and team changes. It was also the final season that ESPN/ABC broadcast Sprint Cup races, as well as the final season for TNT until 2025.
