The 1998 NAPA 500 was a Winston Cup Series (now Nextel Cup) event held at Atlanta Motor Speedway on November 8, 1998. It was the season finale. The race went well into the night and was shorted by 221 laps, but it was all good for Jeff Gordon. Gordon charged to the front late, and won his 13th race of the year, matching the modern era record. It was the perfect way for Gordon to end his season, winning the championship by 364 points.
