The 1992 The Winston was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) All-Star event held at Lowe's Motor Speedway on May 16, 1992. It was the first twillight version of the race. Dale Earnhardt appeared on his way to victory, until, that is, Kyle Petty spun out Earnhardt on the last lap. Petty appeared on his way, until, that is, Davey Allison pulled along side on the frontstretch. Allison barely held off Petty at the line before contact sent him into the wall entering turn one. Allison was the victor, but had to spend the night in the hospital. Eventual season champ Alan Kulwicki was 7th. Stats
