The Race::1980 Los Angeles Times 500 was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) - Winston West Series (now known as the ) combination event held at Track::Ontario Motor Speedway on November 15, 1980. It was the season finale for the Cup Series. Benny Parsons took the lead with eight laps to go but pulled away to a 6.13-second victory on Neil Bonnett. Dale Earnhardt finished 5th, meanwhile, to squeak out his first championship by 19 points on Cale Yarborough (3rd).
