The 1979 Capital City 400 was a Winston Cup Series (now Nextel Cup) event held at Richmond International Raceway on September 9, 1989. Bobby Allison led 369 of the 400 laps in route to a dominating victory, holding off Darrell Waltrip by eleven seconds for Allison's fifth and final win of the year.
