The 1977 Capital City 400 was a Winston Cup Series (now Nextel Cup) event held at Richmond International Raceway on September 11, 1977. Neil Bonnett won his first career race in dominating fashion, leading 250 of the 400 laps and holding off Richard Petty by seven seconds. Points leader Cale Yarborough finished 4th to protect a 118-point cushion on Petty. Stats
