The 1974 Southern 500 was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) event held at Darlington Speedway on September 2, 1974. Cale Yarborough led 159 of the 367 laps in route to a dominating one-lap victory over Darrell Waltrip and the rest of the field.
