The 1971 Wilkes 400 was a Winston Cup Series (now Sprint Cup) - Grand American combination event held at North Wilkesboro Speedway on November 21, 1971. Tiny Lund grabbed the lead with only a few laps to go and held off Charlie Glotzbach by six seconds for Lund's final Grand Am victory of the year. It was never counted as a Winston Cup victory for Lund because he was competing in a Camaro. Richard Petty, the points leader finished 3rd and clinched his championship on the year. Stats
