The 1971 Rebel 400 was a Winston Cup Series (now Nextel Cup) event held at Darlington Speedway on May 2, 1971. Buddy Baker led just 27 of the 293 laps, but rolled onto a seven-lap victory, his only win of the year. Eventual season champ Richard Petty led ten laps before falling to 20th with engine failure.
