The 1969 Southern 500 was a Grand National (now Sprint Cup) event held at Darlington Speedway on September 1, 1969. LeeRoy Yarbrough was already dominating the event when rain clinched his victory after 230 laps. Eventual season champ David Pearson fell one carlength short of Yarbrough on the final lap. Stats
