The 1965 Firecracker 400 was a Grand National (now Nextel Cup) event held at Daytona International Speedway on July 4, 1965. A.J. Foyt grabbed the lead with twenty-four laps to go and held off Buddy Baker for the victory, Foyt's only of the year. Eventual season champ Ned Jarrett crashed to 20th. Stats


This was the last NASCAR Top Series event, in which no cars that qualified in the top 10, finished in the top 10.  This feat was not seen again for 1421 races, until the 2007 UAW-Daimler Chrysler 400.
