The 1963 Capital City 300 was a Grand National (now Nextel Cup) event held at Richmond International Raceway on September 8, 1963. Ned Jarrett took over the lead late, but managed to build a two-lap advantage over Rex White when Jarrett took the checkered flag for his seventh victory of the year. Eventual season champ Joe Weatherly finished 21st after dominating the early portions, sucumbing to an engine failure. Stats
