The 1957 Southern 500 was a Grand National (now Sprint Cup) event held at Darlington on September 2, 1957. Speedy Thompson dominated the event, leading 210 of the 364 laps in route to a three-lap victory on polesitter Cotton Owens. It was Thompson's second and final victory of the year.
